I'll make this as concise as possible. There are times in ones' life when things are not ideal. Regardless of what coping mechanisms we may have things can get out of control before we know it. I for one, am one of those people. I experienced (what I felt like) near catastrophic life changing events in 2024 and it led me down a dark and lonely path. I turned to the only thing that was consistent in my life...alcohol. Substance Use Disorder does not discriminate. It doesn't care about our educational level, our social caste, our health, our past experiences. It's an insidious disease. And being someone who is in the medical profession, I will attest to the fact that it is indeed, a disease. There is a stigma that comes with SUD. It doesn't mean we're weak, it doesn't mean we are insignificant... it means we have fallible coping skills that can lead us on a treacherous road. There is nothing wrong asking for help. In fact, I honestly believe you're a stronger person if you do ask for help. I came to AFRS in October of 2024. I was treated kindly not only by my peers, but by staff as well. There are incredible people who work here who want to truly help you. It can sometimes be difficult for friends and family to understand our struggles. Hence, it is truly invigorating to be around like-minded people who understand you and have similar experiences . It may seem scary at first, but once you take the step to get help for any type of treatment, it can be life changing. I look forward to the next chapters in my life and being here at AFRS equipped me with more 'tools' to deal with life on life's terms. Thank you all there at AFRS for all the support and I am grateful to all the people I have met here. If you're on the fence about receiving treatment... don't! It may not be easy, but it will definitely be worth it.

We understand that considering addiction treatment comes with many questions. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our programs, services, and the recovery process.
We provide treatment for a wide range of substance use disorders, including alcohol addiction, opioid dependence, prescription drug abuse, methamphetamine addiction, cocaine addiction, and other illicit substances. Our comprehensive programs address both the physical and psychological components of addiction.
If substance use is negatively affecting your health, relationships, work, or daily functioning, professional treatment may be beneficial. Signs include unsuccessful attempts to quit on your own, experiencing withdrawal symptoms when stopping, and continued use despite negative consequences. Our team can help assess your situation.
Dual diagnosis treatment addresses both addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach is critical because untreated mental health issues often contribute to relapse, and treating both conditions together leads to significantly better long-term outcomes.
We accept most major insurance plans for our addiction treatment services. The best way to verify your specific coverage and understand your benefits is to contact our admissions team directly, and we’ll help you navigate the insurance verification process.
During your first week, you’ll complete comprehensive assessments, meet with your treatment team, and begin your personalized program. This initial period focuses on orientation to our facility, building rapport with staff and peers, and establishing the foundation for your recovery plan.
We encourage family involvement through our family therapy program. These sessions help loved ones understand addiction, improve communication, address relationship damage, and develop strategies to support your recovery both during and after treatment.
Our aftercare program provides continued support following completion of primary treatment. This includes ongoing counseling sessions, support group connections, relapse prevention planning, and resources to help you maintain sobriety and navigate challenges in your daily life.
